Sometimes we are caught redhanded – but only in order to keep our
clients in the black.

Dye Penetrant Testing is one of the oldest methods in nondestructive material testing to locate surface flaws. The test can be conducted on almost all metallic and nonmetallic materials. Today we primarily use this method on test pieces of nonferromagnetic
materials. The dye penetrates into all surface flaws due to the capillary action. After the careful removal by washing of the dye, a developer layer is applied which generates a counter capillary action. Thereby the penetrant dye is sucked out of cavities and cracks and the flaw becomes visible.

The quality of results in Dye Penetrant Testing relies on the perfect interaction between preliminary purification, penetrant, removal of penetrant and developer – and therefore also relies on the meticulousness of the testing personnel.
